We rolled the C-west/BC S2K off the trailer at round 1 of the 2009 Redline Time Attack ready to defend our title. Well I thought we were ready… I went out for our practice session and the clutch was slipping. The team changed it but that left us with no practice. Sunday we came out to practice and did a 1:46.7, which is under the rear wheel drive track record that I set last year. The cool thing was that we did it with a very low boost setting. So, we knew we could get under a 45 with more boost. We turned up the boost for the first time attack session. The felt so fast on my out lap and I was thinking that a 44 was very possible. It was short lived because on that out lap the head gasket blew! The team pulled the head off and change the gasket before the next session. The car lacked power and I was only able to get a 1:47.8, which was still good enough for 2nd overall. It was a big let down because we knew that a track record and an overall win was in our hands. But thats racing…

The offseason is over! My race season starts this weekend with round one of the Redline Time Attack Championship. I’m going down there looking to defend my Unlimited Class title. In 2009, I will compete in the championship winning C-West/BC Honda S2K. Gary at Design Craft made some changes to the car in hopes of finding some more time. We got a new greddy turbo along with a re-built motor from BC, which should give us the needed power. He also put on a new front spliter to help the front end grip. Can’t wait to get back on track in hopes to take the 2009 championship!

I just got back from the ASD shop in Charlotte. We did 3 days of testing in the new car and after a ton of changes, we got a good base line setup for this year. I did more driving over those 3 days than I did all last year!!! I’m in love with the V8 motor. Once you go V8, you never go back to turbo. The ASD guys did an amazing job building this car and I can’t wait for long Beach.
